About 95, 000 Muslim pilgrims from Nigeria are expected to perform this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia, the Commissioner of Operations and Inspectorate in the National Hajj Commission Dr. Badmus Lanre Yusuf  has said. Dr. Badmus who said this yesterday in Ilorin while featuring on a Radio Kwara programme, “Playing Host” said people below 18 years and above 65 years would have to wait till next year due to the swine flu disease.

The commissioner said airlift of intending pilgrims would commence on the 24th of this month, adding that the commission intended to complete the airlift by the 17th of next month. He said the Saudi authorities had advised intending pilgrims from across the world below 18 years and above 65 to wait till next year as they could easily be infected people by the flu.

He appealed to intending pilgrims to abide strictly by all the rules and regulations of the Saudi government. The commissioner commended the Kwara State government for ensuring that lesser hajj pilgrims from the state were airlifted directly from the Ilorin International Airport to Jeddah. He also urged the management of the MedView Airline to improve on its services for this year’s hajj.
