
Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor has revealed why her parents christened her Patience.
The versatile actress made the revelation in a recent interview with yorubamoviegist.com. When asked to talk about her name and her role in movies, she said: ‘Just like you as an individual, there is a reason behind your name, I mean the one given to you by you parents.
In my own case, there is a reason my father named me Patience, this is because he couldn’t have a male child after he married several wives. My mother was his third wife and each one of them delivered baby girls, anytime anyone of them has a male child he dies.
The person before me was named Hope while mine is Patience, now you know the reason he named me (Patience). I believe there is a reason for everything.’ Patience, who is a renowned actress is still very much relevant in the Nigerian movie industry and she won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 10th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards this year.
Acting for her started during her Teacher’s training days in Afikpo in Ebonyi State where she taught Literature in English and made her students present a play each term.
