“Kenya will be very difficult at their home. But we have to win and hope Mozambique do us some favour by stopping Tunisia in Maputo,” said Odemwingie, who has shone despite some sterile Super Eagles displays lately.
“I also hope that Mozambique play against Tunisia, like they played against us. If they could make things difficult for us both home and away, they can even do more against Tunisia in Maputo.”
The Locomotiv Moscow striker added: “What’s most exciting is that the top two teams are fighting for the World Cup, while the other teams in the group are battling to feature at the Nations Cup. “So, let us not give up yet because our smile may just come after the game in Kenya. It is always better to laugh last.”
The Eagles defeated the Harambee Stars 3-0 in Abuja in June to get their World Cup campaign back on track after a goalless draw in Mozambique three months earlier.
The star-studded Nigerians now have to win in Nairobi and hope Mozambique beat Group Two leaders Tunisia on November 14 to qualify for next year’s World Cup in South Africa.
