Twenty-nine of the arrested policemen were dismissed from the Force after they were found culpable of the offence during orderly room trial.
Some of the dismissed policemen were reportedly those who shot indiscriminately, leading to the death of their victims. Among them were those said to have been responsible for the recent shootings in Yaba area of the state, which resulted in the death of two persons.
The Command boss, Mr Marvel Akpoyibo, who made the disclosure yesterday in Lagos, said the arrest was made between January and October by the Command's Anti Vice Squad.
Akpoyinbo said the Police was a disciplined Force which did not tolerate any act of indiscipline from any of its men, adding that the arrest of erring policemen was a continous.
The offences as stated, also included extortion, discreditable conducts, insubordination and disobedience to lawful orders.
All eyes, he stated, are on the Police and as such policemen would not afford to fail in its expectation, stressing that under the new dispensation, none was above the law.
He, therefore, admonished those who still engaged in same act to learn from their arrested colleagues.
A breakdown of the arrest also showed that a total of nine erring policemen were reduced in rank at the end of investigation while six were reprimanded and warned.
However, eight of them were discharged and acquitted, some were given major or minor entries in their records while a total of sixty-one are still under various stages of trials.
The command boss reassured Lagosians of its determination to ensure a crime and crisis free yuletide period, hinting that security measures had been put in place to checkmate crime particularly during the ember months.
