“Our intelligence report has revealed that that the kidnapped permanent secretary may have been moved from Kaduna to Lagos State as his abductors are said to be contemplating on moving him far away”, he said.
Zoukumor assured the government and people of Niger that he would be home bound soon as he stated that the team sent after the victim and his abductors would not rest until he is released in good health. The commissioner who was speaking with pressmen in Minna yesterday said the police had all the necessary equipment to track dawn the kidnappers.
“The few kidnap cases in Niger State have always been perpetuated by people from outside the state and the police command has never failed in tracking dawn those involved and this is not going to be a different case as we are sure of bringing the man home very soon”, he said.
He however faulted GSM operators for failure to assist police track down kidnappers from their hide outs, saying with little help from them, the job of finding the place they operate from would be a lot easier. Meanwhile, sympathisers keep trooping into the house of the permanent secretary to encourage Hajiya Maimunat Umar, wife of the kidnapped perm sec. She said communication with the abductors was not regular, but said he was in good health.
The Director General Media and Public Affairs Alhaji Bala Abdulkadir who spoke with Daily Trust on telephone disclosed that though the state government was yet to negotiate with the kidnappers, the police were doing their best to return the man to his family.
