The representative of the Peoples Democratic Party, former Minister of Transport, Elder Godsday Orubebe has halted the ongoing collation of the Presidential elections at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Situation Room in Abuja.

Orubebe, acting as a PDP Collation Monitor at the event started his tirade off this morning after a few announcements were made by the Chairman of INEC explaining the delays of the result to Nigerians.

He mounted the podium and in full glare of the cameras accused Professor Attahiru Jega of being tribalistic and selective, saying that the electoral umpire did not respond to petitions from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) concerning their observation of electoral malpractices in the states of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina and Jigawa.

“Jega threw our letter at us, saying that he will not investigate. Jega cannot be selective, he cannot be tribalist”.

He also said APC had written a letter to INEC concerning an alleged rigging in Rivers state which he immediately sent a committee to investigate the issue but that when PDP wrote protest letters on the elections in Katsina, Kaduna and Jigawa, Jega did not send anyone to attend to their protest.

A heavily agitated Orubebe took over the proceedings yelling loudly and saying, “We cannot accept this. There must be peace in this country.”

The PDP stated that Jega received petitions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and attended to them, whilst choosing to ignore their petitions hence, he sat on stage and refused to allow the result announcement to continue.

Jega eventually addressed the issues, before Orubebe allowed Jega to continue.
