CNN Money reports that oil has been discovered at an onshore site in South England near Gatwick Airport.
Exploration firm, U.K. Oil & Gas Investments, confirmed the news on Thursday, stating that there is an estimated 100 billion barrels of oil at the location. According to reports, “that’s more than double the amount of oil pumped from Britain’s energy offshore North Sea fields in the past 40 years.”
However, BBC reports that only a fraction of the 100 billion total would be recovered.
