Sharia Court Remand Man for Intimidating a Lady Who Refused to Marry Him

The police has arraigned a 27-yr-old man, Abba Sadiq, in a Shari’a court sitting at Sabon Gari, Kano, for allegedly intimidating a lady.

The accused was charged with criminal intimidation and intentional insult, an offence that contravenes Sections 304 and 312 of Kano State Shari’a Law.
Daily Independent reports that Police prosecutor, Ahmed Magawata, told the court that on March 26, one Bello Ali of Kuwait Quarters reported the matter at Zango Police Division, Kano
Magawata alleged that sometimes on March 21, the accused went to the complainant’s house and abused his daughter, Sadiya Bello.
He said the accused also used intimidating words on Sadiya by threatening to kill any man who comes to her for marriage.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charges and the judge, Malam Abubakar Ayagi, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter till April 15, for further mention.
