History the say is the best teacher, but not with Nigerian politicians. Nigerian politicians read history from the back, and in doing this they are blind to see ahead of what lies before Nigerians whom they pledged to serve. Most Nigerian politicians need to go back to secondary school for a new orientation of politics and the use of power. They need to be guided with serious research on how the society works for the betterment of the people they serve. They need to know what it means to be in the classroom without light to study in our Nigerian university. They need to learn from the politicians of African history who fought the good fight of socio-economic and political emancipation for the Nigerian people. They need to go back to their books to study again the Hobbesian state of nature and the emergence of society. They need to go back to school and take elective courses in psychology and human development, and also to know how the human mind works. They need to go back to history and see the intention behind William Wilberforce, Dr.Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and those who have gone before us mark with the sign of political stability on the soil of this Nation. This people fought for freedom. Why can"t our politicians learn from Nelson Mandela of South Africa, Nyerere of Tanzania, Ghana right now is taking a lead. Our politicians have dropped their books of history and are now inclined towards money bag politics. They no longer go on retreats to for intellectual productivity, but rather they fly to Europe and America to wallow in resorts and spend the money use for National development for their own selfish aggrandizement. If Nigerian Politicians do not learn from history, then history will judge them soon and what is happening to Bode George will only be a tip of the ice berg. Bode George is even having fun in prison, but when history will play back on Nigerian politicians they will be experiencing death by installment, and then they will look for death and will never see. It will even be better to die than to die by installment. More will soon go to prison very soon and their wives will begin to carry foods for them and their children will be a mockery to their contemporaries. It is better to have a good name than to share in the National cake that worth no celebrations at all when majority of Nigerians are living in squalor. History should be our guide and compass, and this can only be done by taking and introspective look at the past, looking critically at the present and working towards a productive future. Without history, there will be no growth. Nigerian Politicians please let history be our teacher. Reply
