Officials of the Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State have commenced  a demolition exercise at the Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market at Mushin. During the demolition exercise, the traders were  reportedly  barred from entering the market to remove their goods from the shops. Traders said that they met “hoodlums” vandalising the market with bulldozers escorted by policemen and SARS operatives. The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the market, Kanayo Okonkwo, said there was no notice to prepare the traders beforehand;
As it stands, we are in raining season. If it rains, it will spoil all our goods. That would take us back to square one. They didn’t tell us anything. I don’t know where they want us to go. We don’t have other shops. Assuming they gave us some kind of notice, we would know what to do, we came today to sell but found a lock on the gate. We want to know why they vandalised a section of the market. If they have any issue within themselves, let them sort it out. We came here to look for daily bread, not to disturb anybody. If they really planned to develop the market, they should have at least informed us. The governor of Lagos State should come to our aid. If they want us to leave, we will do that. But they should do what is right,” he said.
In front of the market gate was a banner with the inscription: Proposed Commercial Development of Mushin, Lagos. It was also written on the banner that Mushin Local Government in conjunction with a developer known as Total Value Integrated Services Limited is to commence building of a modern plaza market in place of the present stalls being demolished.

Congratulations!!! You just Renewed your idiot license.....

Did you even  took  ur time in reading this article before doing ur post at all ... Becos " it stated  that those traders are forewarned several times and given several  quick notices....
Why are now being tribalistic abt it ....

Stop being sentimental becos those place destroyed  where illegal structures nt houses, well mini stall shop ....these kind of exercises happen around the globe .....

What will you  have say to GOV OBIANO destroying illegal structures in Abia ....... Bt when its comes to southwest .. You people will started shouting and ranting on baseless issue ......

I advise.  You go to the library and brush up your ignorance ?

  Stop behaving like a nitwit ...

I hope those involved in this evil knows what they are doing. They should please borrow a leaf from Tejuosho market. Since they built it how many Lagosians have been able to rent a shop at the place? The Ibo that would have done so have lost interest and left the place for them. Same thing will happen in Ladipo if care is not taken. Ibo's are not their problem. The problem of the Oba and those involved is complex. Inferiority complex borne out of envy

There should be due process and if there is not, then it's vindictive

Is there anything that makes us Ibos to be unable to develop our cities? How many of us have built houses in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki and Abuja (to mention a few places) without as much as a hut in Ibo land? Charity begins at home. We have stopped going home for Easter, Christmas and New yam festivals thereby depriving our local economies of needed capital. We think we are the wisest people around. Part of being wise is knowing what you are dumb at.

That’s a good thing because it all about redevelopment, safety and security. The whole market is not being demolished ….just a section.
I will not be surprised if some of these merchants were there illegally. I am sure they were well informed.

I don’t know why people are making it to be a tribal issue. Why is it always the case?
There ought to be law and order in society.
Ladipo market was shut down temporarily in 2013 for safety & security reasons.
In other words this should be no surprised to everyone.
