Raving Dog Attacked & Killed Middle-Aged Woman In Ondo State

A raving dog has attacked and killed a middle-aged woman, Florence Aladenoye, at Alade-Idanre in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State. The dog which belonged to a neighbour, Olafingbesote Afolabi, allegedly attacked Aladenoye last week in the hilly town of Alade-Idanre and gave her severe injuries which eventually led to her death.

A witness said the dog ran after the woman and bit her while she also struggled to break free from the grip of the dog which had become violent. The incident, he said, caused pandemonium in the rural community, The witness said it took the intervention of neighbours before the woman could be liberated from the grip of the dog. However, the fate of the dog could not be ascertained while its owner was arrested by the police. According to the witness, the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo where all attempts made by the medical personnel to save her life proved abortive.

It was learnt that the victim died in the process of trying to save her life. The incident was said to have been reported at the Alade-Idanre Police outpost where the Divisional Officer (DO) led a team of homicide detectives to the scene of the incident and arrested the owner of the dog.

Investigation showed that on interrogation, the owner of the dog told the police that the dog belonged to her and that she did not immunise it. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was immediately rushed to the hospital shortly after the dog bit her. However, he said the victim was confirmed dead after all efforts by the doctors to save her life were unsuccessful.

The PPRO confirmed the arrest of the owner of the dog. Ogodo added that the police had taken her statement. He also said that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at Alade-Idanre General Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem examination. The PPRO warned those rearing dogs and other domestic animals to ensure that their animals are properly immunised.

Pls. Jst asking, Does this raven dog have piosonous teeth or were they refering to rabis. When it comes to life and death situation, Pls fight back, fear does no good most times. My heart goes out to the diseased. RIP. God keep evil n sorrow far frm us. Amen

The owner of the dog, is not responsible, having wonderful animals like dos, means you have to be more responsible in taking care of the dog, and handling the dog, if it's meant for security, it should not be allowed to go out free, it still needs to move within the house, not in chains, how we treat our animals reflect on some aspect of our altitudes. if we cannot care for human being, then we are incapable of having pets, or social animals.
