There's even a shore in Virginia that is i to Slaves believed to be of Igbo Origin who upon landing at the shore overpowered their captors but didn't know how to get back. So they entered back to the water to make it back to Africa but got drowned along the way.
The locals have it that that the tribe were 'Eboes' as they identified themselves that way with the language they spoke and unlike other black slaves where fiercely independent and highly rebellious not allowing any person to lord it over them.
