Godswill Akpabio, former governor of Akwa Ibom state and senate minority leader, has lamented the moral decadence in Nigerian tertiary institutions. Speaking on Tuesday during the screening of Isaac Adewole, the ministerial nominee from Osun state, Akpabio said members of the upper legislative chamber are worried by the sex-for-marks syndrome in Nigerian universities.
Quote
In The Nigerian universities today, many female students don’t go to class because they know that they will end up sorting,
he said.

The issue of sex-for-marks is very prevalent in Nigerian universities, which is the reason why most of the senators you see here, their female children are not in Nigeria because they do not want lecturers to ask them for sex in favour of marks. “If you end up as a minister, as a member of the federal executive council, how will you advise the federal government to address the issue of ‘national sorting’? The issue is very disturbing.
His question elicited laughter from some of his colleagues, who cheered him. In his response, Adewole addressed virtually all the questions raised by the lawmaker but did not utter a word on Akpabio’s last question. Adewole is currently the vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan.

I love the boldness of the senator for raising this issue. This issue is a major setback in Nigerian education system. One wonders why this issue has not come to the table of the law makers long ago. He is correct, does or can any Nigerian lecturer refute or deny the allegation? It is very clear the lecturers abuse student, both married and unmarried, both segxwally and morally. I have spoken out about this so many times on this forum and other social media. I have made several recommendations as ways to curtail the rampant moral decadence in Nigerian universities. Give the offenders maximum of 10 years in jail for any staff: academic and non-academic staff taking segxwal advantage of students. both in elementary schools, secondary schools, colleges and universities. After serving the sentence, lay them off immediately.

Daughters of all these rich politicians may probably end up doing drugs or joining one useless gang or the other. They may end up so wasted psychologically that u will wish they schooled in the country
