According to reports, Benin Republic has taken over 16 communities in Kwara State, Nigeria. The neighbouring country is said to have erected its flag of annexation in the Nigerian communities. Nigerians have reacted to the news with shock via social media. Read Twitter comments below:

They feel that the government will be too occupied to confront them, so they go ahead and claim lands, with the aim that it will be too late when the government becomes aware of what is happening. I still don't know why the residents of those areas didn't put up any resistance when these flags where being mounted cos they wouldn't say they didn't know when it happened.

You are perfectly correct. Who knows if they really want to belong to this failed state where nothing works. I don't blame the residents at all.
