Robert Mugabe will continue as President of Zimbabwe until he is 100, governing from a “special wheelchair”, his wife has said.
Grace Mugabe, herself a cabinet minister, said in a speech over the weekend that while the 91-year-old’s mind might be willing, increasingly his body may not be. But that that isn't going to stop him.
According to reports in the Zimbabwean press, Mr Mugabe has recently had trouble walking, as his advanced years begin to catch up with him. “We are going to create a special wheelchair for President Mugabe until he rules to 100 years, because that is what we want,” Mrs Mugabe said. “That is the people’s choice. We want a leader that respects us.”
The people will get the chance to voice their opinion in 2018 when Zimbabwe next goes to the polls to decide who rules them. Mr Mugabe, who has suffered a number of embarrassing public stumbles in recent months, has already been declared as the Zanu-PF candidate despite the fact that he will be 94 at the time of the election. Mr Mugabe has been President in Harare since 1980.
Mrs Mugabe did not give details about quite how the wheelchair would be special, but vowed to push it herself.
The 50-year-old Mrs Mugabe has herself been mentioned as a possible successor to her husband, who has insisted he will not retire.

I use to respect dis woman. She jt loose dat respect from me now. Wat rubbish. Is Mugabe d king? dat must rule for whatever time till he die b4 power can leave his hands. She is so shameless she has to be in d husband cabinet instead of being d first lady. African leaders are so greedy they don't care if they enslave d their citizens. Too bad

MADAM WHY HE CANNOT CONTINUE TO RULE IN GRAVE? THAT WILL STILL BE OK OR BETTER STILL THEY SHOULD MAKE AN IMAGE OF HIM AND WORSHIP HIM AS IDOL AND ASK QUESTION FROM HIM ON HOW TO RULE AFTER HIS DEATH. GREEDY PPLE

I have a Zimbabwean friend and also a colleague at work, he always tells me that Mrs Grace is worst than her husband and his cabinet put together. Now I know and understand what he really and mean't and how right his been. "Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the mind of those who possess it".........This is not far from the saying from Lord Acton, that "absolute power corrupts absolutely". When the end is near, the ear gets blocked. The reign and time of President Mugabe is at the peak and will crumble like a pack of cards. Mrs Grace Mugabe whom some people thought will succeed her man will definitely fall from grace to grass because she is helping in legitimizing the abuse of power which make the problem of moral hypocrisy among Zimbabwean far even worse.
