As the yuletide season approaches and to curb automobile accidents fuelled by drivers under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicants, the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has banned the sale of alcoholic drinks at motor parks in the state. The Sector Commander, Mr Andrew Kumapayi, disclosed the ban while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, the state capital. He warned that anyone caught selling alcoholic drinks at any motor park would be arrested and prosecuted and urged drivers to desist from drinking and driving to save their lives and other road users.
Kumapayi explained that the ban was in compliance with the directives from the FRSC Headquarters, Abuja, which, after long period of statistical analysis it was found out that the increasing level of road accidents is traceable to drunk driving.
The FRSC sector commander also urged drivers to avoid excessive speed when driving, especially as the festive season was approaching, adding that traffic signs and rules should be obeyed in driving. He also said enlightenment campaign had been taken to the 23 local government areas in the state to stop the sale of alcohol at motor parks, stating that the ban would be monitored across the state.
Kumapayi appealed to local government councils, which manage and control markets and motor parks to assist in enforcing the ban on the sale of alcohol liquor.

To ban alcohol in motor park is not an issue cause it can be bought outside the park.the main issue and concern are the roads. Are the roads really safe and motorable? Federal (road safety) commission.

Enough grammar and waist of our tax money.   Repair our roads simple.
Good roads all over Nigeria will surely reduce accidents by 60%.
