New reports have confirmed that for the second day in a row, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are carrying out mass protests and demanding the release of their director, Nnamdi Kanu. As a result, the city of Onitsha is in total lock-down, including the head bridge, as vehicles are refused exit or entry into the southeastern city.
In November, after the first set of protests erupted in south-southern  and southeastern cities in Nigeria, officers of the Nigerian Army tried to curb the protest but it eventually led to the death of one civilian.
