Maiduguri is safe, as Nigerian soldiers aborted an invasion of the city by Boko Haram gunmen Sunday evening.
Up to seven people died in the gun battle as Nigerian troops repelled the attack on a village in the outskirts of the city, capital of Borno State.
Gunfire and explosions could be heard in the evening in the city, the birthplace of Boko Haram battling to establish an Islamic state in Nigeria.
Soldiers stopped suspected Boko Haram fighters in Aldawari village on the outskirts of Maiduguri, military sources and witnesses said.
“We just came out of the mosque after evening prayers, then we started hearing gunshots … then suddenly there was the sound of a blast,” said Nene Hassan, a resident, adding that four people died and five were wounded. Buhari have said it that he will stop the attack of boko haram in this country. its was like nigeria army has been getting boko haram and prevent them frm attacking. Good job guys.

It inevitable, Christmas joy, is around, so maybe they thought the military will be more relaxed and they thought it will be a chance to gain some victory, they were still smashed like insects, and truly the joy is on.
