Following the appointment of
some members of the party’s
National Working Committee (NWC)
into the Federal Executive Council
(FEC), the leadership of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded plans to fill their
positions, reports Thisday. The party is, however, considering
appointing the new members of the
NWC who will serve in acting
capacity pending the next national
convention of the party. Three NWC members including, the
former National Publicity Secretary,
Lai Mohammed and the Vice
Chairman (North East), Bukachir
David Lawal, National Welfare
Officer (North-west) recently left their offices to assume duties as
government appointees. Mohammed was appointed the
Minister of Information and Culture
while Lawal became the Secretary
to the Federal Government of the
Federation. Also read: Uproar as Buhari
appoints SGF, Chief of Staff With their appointments, the
members of the NWC was reduced
to 17 thereby leaving the respective
zones without a representative in
that vital organ of the party. NWC’s latest move to fill the
positions was made more urgent
following the bickering it was having
with the deputy spokesman, Timi
Frank and the  controversy being
generated by a directive ceding his job temporarily to the National
Secretary, Mai Bala Buni. The situation became worse
recently when Frank was said to
have threatened to drag the party
leadership to court if it continued to
allow the secretary to usurp his
functions
