smartphones like the Galaxy S7 but if
you’re not ready to pay hundreds of
dollars just to get a smartphone,
perhaps this smartphone from India
will interest you. We’ve seen some dirt
cheap smartphones straight out of
China but the cheapest Android
smartphone in the world isn’t a
Chinese phone, it’s actually made in
India.
Meet Freedom 251
Freedom 251 packs specifications
worthy of a $100 phone and all these
for just 251 rupees. That’s about $3.6
given the current exchange rate which
translates to about ₦1000. Freedom
251 has 4-inch IPS LCD screen with a
qHD resolution (960×540). It is
powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core
processor and there’s a 1GB RAM to
work with. The phone comes with a
8GB internal storage but this is
expandable up to 32GB via a microSD
card slot.
There’s a 3.2MP rear camera with auto
focus and there’s also a 0.3MP camera
at the front. Freedom 251 has a
removable battery with a capacity of
1450mAh. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop
and comes with a 1 year warranty.
Unfortunately, this device won’t make
it past the shores of India. You have to
be an Indian or someone living in
India to get it. The phone is way too
cheap and there are speculations that
the Indian government probably
subsidized the phone to make
technology accessible to everyone.
This phone is made by a company
called Ringing Bells and it seems to be
formed just a few months ago.
