The rising tension prior to crises in the region made the National Youth Service Corps to threaten withdrawal of corps members from the state.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Maharazu Tsiga, who supervised the evacuation of corps members from flashpoints of the violence to safety told the rescued corps members at the National Christian Corpers’ Fellowship Lodge in Ferin Gada that he would not hesitate to withdraw all of them if their safety could no longer be guaranteed.
He also threatened to stop posting corps members to the state until the authorities could guarantee their safety.

The director-general said that he had been inundated with calls by parents who wanted to know about the condition of their wards.

To ensure that they did not go about in search of food while the crisis lasted, the DG gave them some food items and N700, 000 to take care of their immediate needs. He also visited other corps members evacuated to hotels and government quarters.

Though more soldiers and armed mobile policemen have been drafted to Jos and Bukuru metropolis, sporadic gun shots were heard as security men battled irate youths around Dogon Dutse, Bauchi Ring Road, Rikkos, Ungwuan Keke, Duala and Yanshanu.
