U can use valentine day to show ur lover ur feelings by surprising with a gift. But it s not a must. In general is an average normal day for me as any other one too.
By chance that day is inner our carnival time here in germany cologne. My kids and i, we use to watch the street carnival sunday with and at my parents place. It s always a lot of fun. The ppl , specially the kids love to paint their faces and wearing funny clothes. The carnival groups r throwing sweets, small gifts and flowers to the watching ppl on the street.

Asfar as Catholic concerns, Valentine is all about remembrance of a late Rev. Valentine who died on 14th 0f February in the past and d day was name after him in order not 2 4get.
