A group of Muslim youths, on Friday attacked St. Philip’s Catholic Parish, Baki Iku, very close to Zuma Rock in Niger State.
According to eyewitnesses, some Catholics, who had gone to the church to pray were attacked by the Muslims on the claim that Friday was their day of prayer and that the Church only had right to worship on Sundays.
Information gathered from eyewitnesses showed that they destroyed the Church properties, including doors and windows.
“Although some soldiers managed to get there but a lot of harm had been done to the building, while the Christians ran away in different directions to avoid being killed”, the source hinted.
It should be recalled that Alhaji Kabiru Sokoto had on Christmas day four years ago (December 25, 2011) detonated a bomb that killed over 200 Catholics and passersby at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, close to St. Philips that was destroyed.
Rev Fr. Luka Sylvester Gopep, the Vicar-General of the Diocese confirmed the incident.
He said, “Sometime around 2pm, some Muslim youths in their hundreds left their Mosque after their Friday Jumat prayer and rushed to the Church premises, climbed the wall and destroyed everything in the Church: the windows, the alter, musical instruments, the chapel.
“The security man in the church premises was beaten to pulp. Some women who were holding a prayer meeting were chased away. The seminarian who is resident in the premises was also beaten up and chased away.”
Just last week, Mrs Eunice Olawale Elisha, a mobile preacher of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was killed by some fanatical Muslims in Kubwa, FCT.

My people Islam is not the issue in Nigeria but the North and the Hausa's and Fulani's. We have Yoruba Muslims don't we? But have they engaged in such primitive acts? That was why I wept for the Yorubas wen they gave support to Buhari. Truth was the two presidential candidates weren't fantastic but they shouldn't have trusted the Hausa's . This government is worse of them all. Well we the South South will put the North where they belong soon even Buhari knows the game has changed.

Well, I don't like to comment on anything relating to religion rivalry because the God am serving is too Mighty for me to fight for but the acts of these Muslim is becoming unbearable. I was in a bank yesterday trying to fill my deposit slip while a Muslim guy came from behind and wanted to make use of the same slap others were using to fill their deposit. He was asking a guy next to me to give him space so that he can fill his own but all of a sudden he pushed the guy unknown to him that the guy is deaf. What a silly behavour from a grown up man that is coming from prayer ground. Then, another man shouted why should you push like that, a small tap is enough to call his attention. Although, am not using this to judge any religion because I have seen Christian holding Bible and also engage in serious quarrel with another person. We should learn to be tolerance and love ourselves. We should all aware that the end time is near because the world is becoming the survival of the fittest.
