The Principal of the school, Mr. Peter Mcloed, while presenting the cheque to the United Nations Children Fund, said Effiang sought the permission of the school’s authority to carry out the fund raising campaign for children in Haiti who no longer go to school.
Mr. Mcloed said he approved the fund raising campaign and made it optional for every child in the school to pay N1000 and all the 521 pupils paid, while some staff and parents also joined in the donation which helped raise the money.
The UNICEF Representative for Nigeria Dr. Suomi Sakai, represented by the Emergency Officer Mr. Soji Adeniyi, thanked the school authority and pupils for their commitment in raising the money to help the victims of the disaster in Haiti.
Dr. Sakai “Your donations will aid UNICEF and its partners in providing food, clean water, shelter and life-saving supplies to health care facilities and temporary care centers. We receive this cheque with special thanks and commend your noble efforts as young citizens contributing towards the care and protection of Haitian children.”
