At least 10 people have been killed in an attack on a mainly Christian village near the violence-hit Nigerian city of Jos, officials say.

Eyewitnesses said houses were burnt and villagers were cut down with machetes. State radio reported that the raiders were disguised as soldiers.

State government spokesman Dan Manjang said the attack happened in Riyom area.

Hundreds of people have died in communal violence between Muslim and Christian groups near Jos this year.

Although the clashes take place between Muslims and Christians, observers say the underlying causes are economic and political.

i'm tired of hearing b***s**t stories as this one. I wonder when muslims will stop allowing themselves to be used by enemies of peace in this country and besides,the ppl behind this killings, don't they have a conscience?

this is what pisses me off about the mentality of some people that always include the religion name in what ever that happens, are there no muslims in lagos, why don't they start fighting and killing people. these animals that are killing people are just hiding behind the name to do their evil deed, islam never thought all this nonsense, islam is a religion of peace. so let us mind what we say. may the soul of dead rest in peace.
