What were we all exporting that made when Naira to still retain some value in the past, or is it a case of not wanting to make any reference to poor economic (mis) management by the government of the day???!

petroleum oil was a big thing before. now a lot of countries ,US, CANADA,CHINA, INDIA, all big time importers are now producing their own oil or getting it from somewhere else cheaply too.
many countries now refuse Nigeria/OPEC oil because it is too expensive. so the price came crashing down and can't support the value we placed on our Naira.
therefore we have to lower the value of the Naira in order for our business partners to be able to buy from us. .
of course , there is bad management, corruption and lack of planning and diversification on our part.
