The petty trader who resides at 73, Abeokuta Expressway, Adealu, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos explained to the court further how her husband and one of the landlord’s daughters, Joke ganged up and beat her mercilessly with horsewhip when she caught them pants down on their matrimonial bed.
Sherifat, who told the court that her husband’s extramarital affairs with their landlord’s daughters annoys her, claimed that she was ignorant of her husband’s motive when he encouraged her to make friends with them until she started meeting them in compromising positions in their bedroom.
She said she became furious and challenged him one day but was surprised when her husband and the lady, Joke pounced on her and beat her mercilessly.
Her words: “What really baffled me was that the lady joined him in beating me with horse whip.”
The mother of two said that that was not his first time of beating her, adding that her hubby often takes delight in beating her silly with horsewhip.
The aggrieved petty trader stated further that her husband always reacted violently whenever she asked him why he usually got home late in the dead of the night.
Sherifat told the court that she met her husband in 2008 and they got married in 2009, adding that the union was blessed with two children.
She told the court that since she got married to Adegoke, she has never enjoyed peace especially now that their landlord’s daughter had hijacked him from her.
She claimed that her husband started to beat her with belt but later resorted to using horsewhip.
“He always got angry whenever I ask him for money to take care of the family,” she told the court, urging it to dissolve the union and grant her custody of the children of the marriage since her hubby had chosen to fall in love with the landlord’s daughter.
In his defence, Adegoke, 42, denied all the allegations and explained that he did not purchase the horsewhip purposely for his wife, but to checkmate his colleagues who always play pranks on him.
Adegoke claimed that he had never given his wife problems but it was the woman that made the matrimonial home uncomfortable for herself.
