
Lagos – A 22-year-old man, John Kujes, who allegedly stabbed his co-tenant, Tony Jaosu, with an arrow on the shoulder, was on Thursday brought before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. Knife stab Kujes, a resident of Abule Ado area of Lagos, is facing a charge of assault, to which he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Sgt. Olusegun Kokoye, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 2 at their residence. Kokoye said that the accused beat Jaosu to a pulp and also stabbed him on the shoulder with an arrow. He told the court that the fight started as a result of an argument that ensued between them. According to Kokoye, the accused claimed that the complainant was rude to him; so he decided to teach him a lesson by beating him up. The prosecution said that all efforts made by other tenants in the compound to settle the dispute failed. He said that the offence contravened Sections 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 prescribes three years jail term for assault occasioning harm. The Senior Magistrate, Mr M.A Etti granted the accused bail of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum. He adjourned the case until Dec. 21 for mention.
