Ruggedman And ASP Opetodalopo Badmus Exchange Words Over SARS Brutality Allegations

Popular Assistant Superintendent of Police, Opetodolapo Badmus and Nigerian rapper and social activist, Ruggedman, exchanged words online after the rapper accused the Nigerian police of shielding officers her described as ‘bad eggs’ in the force.

This was as a result of an alleged case of police brutality in Ogba area of Lagos by security personnel believed to be members of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS), after the victim had reportedly refused to hand over his mobile phone to be screened by the officers. In the video widely being circulated online, the officers are seen engaging in the violent encounter with the victim who is rumoured to have died after the incident.

SARS operatives harass and beat a man till he became lifeless in the Ogba area of Lagos on Monday. .. The victim, according to reports, had only just stepped out of an eatery when the operatives pounced on him, demanding to search his phone. .. The man’s refusal to allow the officers check his phone led to barrage of slaps and kicks, leading him to collapse. .. The officers have not been identified. .. #newsroomdaily

ASP Badmus had hinted that the police hierarchy was aware of the incident and that investigations are on to make sure that the culpable officers will be brought to justice.

However, Ruggedman who wasn’t convinced with the statement saying that citizens wanted to see such cases in court and hear jail sentences pronounced on convicted officers.

In a swift response, ASP Badmus berated the rapper for his comments, saying she was disappointed in his comments, saying hand not believing the assurance from the Lagos State police commissioner who she claimed was on top of the case.
