A popular actor, Yemi Solade, has lamented the state of the movie industry in Nigeria, saying the nation is “killing” him despite his patriotism.

The 58-year-old actor said he might consider relocating from Nigeria like some of his colleagues that he had criticised for doing same.

Solade, an actor of decades of professional experience, wondered why actors should still struggle to pay their bills despite what appears to be improvement in Nollywood.

He said, “For the first time in a long while, I gave up on Nigeria. I might decide to relocate to another country and this is what I always criticise my colleagues for. Nigeria is killing me. I have been so patriotic, but I think I have to face the reality now. I have a job that is not putting meals on my table the way it should and I don’t want my children to suffer. It is terrible if we continue to lose our best minds to other countries. I don’t want to have money like Femi Otedola; I don’t pray for it and I don’t need it at my age. All I need are the basic things in life, which I can use to take care of myself, my wife and my children.

“I struggle to get good jobs; I have done my best. I should have left Nigeria 20 years ago, but I stayed to contribute my quota to its development. I am getting older; I am older than some of the governors in Nigeria and I cannot be running to them for survival. I cannot steal money like some people do and we all know that stealing is not good. I pay my bills with the pay I get from producers, but it is tiny. I am bleeding inwards right now and it is not good for my age. I have to begin to look elsewhere for survival.”

Please if you must, run away, but remember to contribute back to Nigeria, you will always be welcome and feel very free in your motherland. At least I hope the coming generation learns how to have a better character and attitude in life.

ooh I looked again, you know, time makes us hurry sometimes, I think he just wants to have enough to adequately take care of himself and his family and he is not finding it easy now. So he is the type that is thinking for himself and family which is impressive, I also wish we are concerned for the nation, for people in the villages,  for the students, for other children, it will help us, imspire us to see, what we have not seen, it would build us, and makes us very effective instruments of change that will not only transform the lives of ourselves and family but the nation, and poverty would be reduced and ideas will come together and solutions would be more effective. Imagine people came together and cooperated on improving and building up each other and complimenting each other, everybody gains, and no one is left out.

But again he is very impressive in his objectives to take adequate care of himself and family and being satisfied with it, and it is a very practical approach.

For instance in education, Education has evolved, what are we teaching our kids, are we teaching them to consume food but not preparing it or planting it, are we teaching them to make bicycles or how to dream only of riding bicycles, this i noticed was very practical and sustainable way of living in Igbo culture, where their children learn to trade in childhood or youth, they work directly with machines, this is just a tip of the iceberg to how we can transform the society.
We can devise very practical and joyful approach to improving the generations from small steps, to effective steps to collaborative steps and to cooperative and sustainable steps, where we carry the people along, and make them partners in improving every life in society. Undecided

Who wants to stay in a failed State lead by a terrorist government, if you have the opportunity to
