A mother of four, Uzoma Igbokwe has been arrested and remanded in prison for allegedly stolen of N3000 phone at Iba area of Lagos State.

The husband Chief Michael Igbokwe, has alleged that his house care-taker, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejieh has conspired with a junior policeman to send his wife, Uzoma, to prison over allegation of stealing phone of N3,000 in their compound.

The distraught husband who spoke with our correspondent said the junior officer disobeyed the area commanded after settling the dispute relating to phone theft in his apartment.
He explained that four days after a policeman came to arrest her wife, she was charged to court over allegation of stealing one Tekno phone with market price of N3,000.

Igbokwe, who spoke with our correspondent, said that Ejieh had been threatening to deal with him by calling the police who arrested his wife.

Igbokwe said: “My wife who is in the prison in the last two weeks was not at home when when the phone got missed in my compound at No, 22/24, Idera Street, Igboelerin, Lagos State. The care-taker, Ejieh came to the house the following day with police to arrest my wife without making his findings.

“Two weeks ago, as I was coming back from work and I heard some of my neighbours saying that my son, Akaraka will die for stealing their phone. I ignored them because I am not aware of what led to that. When I entered my apartment, I called my son, Akaraka and her elder sister, Chinagoro who was around to find out what happened. Chinagoro, the elder one told me she picked up a cell phone that belonged to one of our neighbour, called Faith. She also picked N1,000 that was with the phone. Chinagoro told me that she gave the phone and the money to her younger brother to keep for Faith.he explained that when Faith started looking for the phone and money, Chinagoro called her and handed the phone and the N1,000 to her in the presence of Akaraka.

Igbokwe said that the same Faith who commanded his children for picking her phone, came to back to them few hours later that the phone memory card was missing.

He added: “Moshood Nasir who claimed to own the phone came to my apartment and said that I should bring out my son, Akaraka, or I will die with him. That he is looking for his memory card and I asked him how much is the memory card cost. Faith’s mother interrupted that the memory card is 8G and it cost N5000. I told them to go because it was night and come back tomorrow morning so, I will give them the money to get another memory card to avoid problem in the compound.

“Faith’s mother, Nasir and other women in the compound started insulting me and my children calling us names thieves and robbers.

My daughter, Precious, challenged them for insulting and they engaged her in fight, while Gift ran to call my wife, Uzoma.

He said: “As everybody was busy settling the fight, Nasir, entered my sitting room and took away, my son, Akaraka, who is 13 years old. Luckily for me, one of the women that sell things at the corner of the house, called me, Chief, Chief; they have taken your son. I entered inside the sitting room to confirm if my son was inside because I told him not to come out from the apartment and he was not inside.

“When I came out looking for my son, I met Nasir, who told me that if not that I came to meet them at the bus stop, and that was around 8:30 to 9:00pm, he want kill my son Akaraka for stealing his phone. I took my son home that night and the following day, I went to my office and wrote a petition which I sent to Area E police Command concerning what happened to me and my family members.”

Igbokwe noted that the Commander of Area E police command, an Assistant Commissioner of Police promised to investigative the case.

He explained that Ejieh went to his apartment and removed the widows of my apartment.

He alleged that the care taker had destroyed some of my property in the apartment in the process of removing the widows, saying that he reported the case again to Area E Police command.

Also he said that before he came back his wife was arrested by policemen from Adolf police station at Ejieh instruction. Igbokwe said he had to contact his lawyer who followed him to the station.

However, Ejieh lied to my lawyer that my wife stolen a –phone in the compound.

He said: “I later sent one of my workers, Jerry Nwokoro to take food to my wife in the police station, and they didn’t allow him from seeing my wife. With hope, the police will released my wife as commander promised. But my my wife called me again that police had taken her to court for stealing phone.

“My wife left her two years old child and seven children at home. I cannot go to work again because I need to take care of the children at home.”

He appealed to Commissioner of Police in Lagos to intervene and investigate the case, adding that he was surprised that the commander of an area commander would gave order to a junior officer and disobeyed.

Also, he noted that his worker, Nwokoro was arrested and charged to court for snapping picture of police station.
