At least nine persons have lost their lives in a fatal road accident that took place yesterday along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway. No fewer than nine persons were confirmed dead, while 12 persons sustained injuries in an auto crash on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Enugu, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
Amaraizu noted that the incident happened on Sunday evening at 8 p.m., on the Awgu Local Government Area axis, along with the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Amaraizu said that the corpses of the nine persons had been deposited at the mortuary of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku/Ozalla near Enugu. According to him, the 12 persons critically injured had been rushed to the UNTH for medical attention.
