JAMB Approves 160 As Cut-Off Mark For 2019 Admission

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB and higher institutions on Tuesday have approved the minimum score of 160 as the cut-off for admissions in 2019.

The decision was reached at the 19th Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, The Nation reports.

JAMB and the school authorities also approved 140 for admission into private universities.

The meeting took place at the Bola Babalakin Auditorium, Gbongan, Osun State.

The board also approved 140 as minimum UTME score for admission into private universities while 120 was set for public polytechnic and 110 scores were approved as the least score for admission into the private polytechnic, Reports The Guardian

About 1,886,508 candidates registered for the exams in and outside of Nigeria.

“Out of this number, which excludes the Direct Entry candidates, 59,667 were absent. A total of 1,826,839 sat the UTME,” JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede said in Abuja in May.

1,792,719 candidates result were released while 34,120 results were withheld including the results of 15,145 candidates being further clarified as identical twins and siblings.

And just yesterday, the board released 15,490 results of candidates who were suspected of being involved in examination malpractices.
JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement released in Abuja on Monday said “the board has further cleared and released the results of 15,490 candidates in this category.”
