If you want to have you respect b4 ur in-laws don't stay else they will look down on you. We are Africans and we know how it feels, rather rent it out and use the proceeds to service your own rent (its preferable).

Nothing is wrong in that but I pray that such will never happen to me cos it make a man loose its integrity... if your wife's parent are rich then they should make it as a gift for you both and not as their own property for you to reside in
