At the end of each lecture hour
He would stand on the corridor,
And chat with interested students
Who were free, and wished to know more.
On this day a female student
Stood with him at the corridor,
And whispered in a muffled tone,
"The garage door is open, Sir!"
"I beg your pardon," said the don,
"What was it you just said? Once more!"
"The garage door is open, Sir!"
"The garage door? Whose garage door?"
"Your garage door is open, Sir,"
Said she, "It has been long ajar!"
"Oh, yes, thank you," the old don said,
As he pulled up the loose zippers
Of the flyers on his trousers.
"By the way," asked the professor,
"Did you, by any good chance, see
The Rolls Royce parked in that garage?"
"Oh, no, Sir," said she, politely —
Most careful no offence to cause —
"I saw no Rolls Royce, or such cars,
What I saw was a battered, old
