segxwal harassment from family relations especially the uncles/aunties

i was listening to a radio program online coolfm Lagos few weeks ago where the topic was about  segxwal harassment from relations. people actually called to share their experiences how they were been molested/abused  by their uncles, aunties, neighbors, drivers, house help and so on.. the shocking one was some girls called to say they were been raped by their own fathers..my question is what would warrant a father molesting his own daughter??? if we'll all be honest one way or the other we have been either the victims or culprits or at least have friends who are/have..does this really mean that the world is coming to an end or people are becoming wiser??
