In its most recent reaction to hundreds of cases of child segxwal abuse, the Belgian Roman Catholic Church says they "should never, never have happened."
"The past months have been very difficult for the Church and for us. We are fully committed to tackling this problem in a new way," Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard told a news conference on Monday.
"The report confronted us with something that should never, never have happened," Leonard said, stressing that the church wished to "draw the lessons from past errors."
Sex abuse scandals surfaced in Belgium last week with a Catholic Church-backed commission reporting 475 new cases committed in the 1950s through the late 1980s by Catholic clergy, religious teachers, and church workers.
Child psychiatrist Peter Adriaenssens, who has been asked by the Catholic Church to look into abuse cases, says hundreds of sex abuse victims have come forward with harrowing accounts of their molestation by the clergy.
Reports say the abuses led to at least 13 suicides and affected children as young as two.
The Belgian Catholic Church says it is planning to establish a center for recognition, healing and reconciliation for victims.
"It causes us pain. Coming out of such a crisis is not easy," said Leonard.
Critics charge that the Church has failed to act against errant priests and that it has ignored the abuses.

Why should you be surprise where the catholic church is concern. They were the ones that bring in the cult that spread the lies that Jesus Christ is a Spirit. This happen through their book of Judas. Who is the church Jesus Christ is talking about? The church started in Acts 2, and Genesis 3 vs 15 along with Revelations 12 talks about who the church is. The church is we who baptized in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Matt 28 vs 19 Baptized for the remission of sins not sprinkled with water. Some fellowship is what tainting the good name of Jesus Christ and the works He did on earth. But has Jesus himself said, let the thorn and weeds grow together until the day of harvest.
When the day of Judgment cometh the gates of Hell will never prevail indeed. But in the mean time Satan has its followers corrupting persons here on earth. Pharisees and Scribes are still amongst us, they will only be out of the way when Jesus Christ comes for His bride and form the new world here on earth. This will happen when he put his enemies under his foot forever. ie Satan and his followers. Jesus is just waiting on the day when God His Father will end this world but in the meantime He is sitting beside God's throne mediating on our behalf.

that isn,t a much suprise to me anyway , and i do believe much more of it will resurface soon , the present pope was confronted and almost humilated on a tripe ealier on this very year on one of his visits to an european country , but its rather inhuman maltreating a fellow human not to talk of molesting a child of two years old , thats not only barbaric but animalistic also , may GOD forbid bad things so

Nobody said that all christians commits this-or-that offense. I dont give a damn who did what. What concerns me is to know that this does that.
Most of the christians when condemning the act committed by a single muslims used to call Muslims animals in human skin. It happened here on NP. But in my case, I never generalize and said that all christian did this or that.
Believe me or not, majority of your pastors are nothing but agents of devil on earth (ass/honeypot happy). I wonder how you can save your pastor, because the truth used to unfold little-by-little. It needs time to surface.

To the best of my knowledge when one says majority, it does not mean ALL. But according to your sense of judgement majority means all, and as such, I generalised.

absolutely right , when i join too , i taught its a forum where we will discus talk and laugh, i was so suprise at the rate of insults melted on the ISLAM AND THE MUSLIMS and especially the then late president may ALLAH forgive him , so many peoples stands on what i don,t get i destroys ,that will not lead to anything tangible but more and more soroful and backwardness, thats why i change too and started attacking like no man,s bussiness , i am a peace loving and very jovial , i joke alot but at the same time i decides to give every one whatso ever they decerved
