Nigerian music legend and reggae king Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly called Majek Fashek, has reportedly passed on at age 71.

According to reports, the “Send Down the Rain” crooner, died in a hospital in New York on Monday June 1.

His manager, Omenka Uzoma shared the news on Instagram writing;

Quote
“Today been having pressure calls,well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker,
Let celebrate him ,his achievements and his family,what ever decisions made by his immediate family will be notify.”

Recall that in September last year when Uzoma cried out about his condition, billionaire Femi Otedola paid for the reggae icon’s medical expenses at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London.

Majek is best known for the 1988 album Prisoner of Conscience, which included the multiple award-winning single “Send Down the Rain”.

Also known as The Rainmaker, he has worked with various artists worldwide, including Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé.

May his soul RIP.
