The locals that were involved in the incident have now spoken, specifically the paramount chief of Osu traditional area, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI said the Nigerian commission were trying to forcefully take the land of his people without following the due process or respecting the wish of the locals. he noted that they have tried to resolve the matter amicably in the past but the Nigerian high commission responded to them with sheer arrogance and impunity. He also stated that the structure demolished was planned to be used for "planned entertainment complex to be used as an events centre for commercial purposes" and not the staff quarters that was being claimed by the Nigerians.
