In recent weeks Nasri has moved inside to fill in for injured captain Cesc Fabregas, scoring a brace against both Tottenham Hotspur and West Brom, and wants to remain in the role.
The France international, who has mainly been deployed on the flank since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Marseille in 2008, starred in a central role in Les Bleus' 2-0 win over Romania on Friday night and now wants to do the same for his club.
Nasri said: "That's where I play best, that's how I was formed. In every age group at youth level, I often played through the middle. I've been playing out wide for two years with Arsenal but feel more at ease in the centre of the pitch."
The Gunners already have a number of options in the middle of the pitch - including rising star Jack Wilshere, Andrei Arshavin, Tomas Rosicky and Abou Diaby - and will have only on spot available when Fabregas returns from injury.
