"Abandoned Buildings Are Hideouts For Criminals" -Ekiti Govt Warn Owners, Threaten To Take Over

Ekiti State Government has warned owners of abandoned buildings in the state to complete and take possession of their properties or forfeit them as the government could no longer tolerate such structures that have become hideouts for criminals and miscreants.

Giving the warning in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Princess Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen lamented that most abandoned buildings in the state have become dens of criminals.

The Commissioner who conducted an on the spot assessment tour to five Local Government Areas in the State said that some of the identified buildings are indeed capable of harbouring men of the underworld.

She reiterated the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to the safety of lives and property of people in the state, adding that residents must complement the government’s efforts at providing adequate security by being more security conscious and giving prompt relevant information to appropriate security agencies to tighten security in their various areas.

Some of the buildings and facilities inspected by the Commissioner and her team include; abandoned buildings along Fabo – Efon express road, Efon Alaaye, Aramoko Forest Reserve along Ijero road, Aramoko-Ekiti and Asasa Camp, Aramoko Ekiti.

Others are abandoned buildings and sites along the Ire -Ilupeju Ekiti road, Ire Ekiti, abandoned buildings and sites along Afao – Igbemo road, abandoned sites along Ikere – Ise road and other several abandoned company sites across the State.
