The suspects had approached Bogobiri, a popular Hausa settlement, last Saturday, with the intent of selling the boy to prospective buyers.
Briefing newsmen on Monday, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the 13th Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Olaniyi Osoba, said his command acted on a tip-off at the weekend when some patriotic Nigerians alerted the army regarding the devilish plot.
According to him, two military personnel were sent to Bogobiri to pose as buyers of the innocent boy who the couple wanted to put up for sale.
The suspected couple demanded N1.5 million on the boy, but after series of negotiations, they opted to sell their “commodity” for N800,000 before they were apprehended by other soldiers, who had laid ambush for them.
