Several other persons sustained injuries.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the lone accident involving the Hiace bus occurred when one of the tyres burst and soon after, the vehicle screeched to a halt before it went into flames.

The vehicle, it was believed, was heading towards Agbor or Benin from Onitsha where it took off.

It took sympathisers hectic time to rescue those trapped in the wrecked vehicle.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relation Officer, Mr. Charles Muka, said motorists should exercise restraint  while driving.

Meanwhile, The Grand Cereals and Oil Mill, a subsidiary of UAC in Jos, Plateau State, was thrown into mourning, on Friday, following the killings of one of the staff of the organisation, Mr. James Dungs and two others by some unknown assailants.

Saturday Tribune learnt that at about 11:30 p.m,  the hoodlums, numbering about 10, armed with sophisticated weapons,  stormed  Kwata area of Jos South Local Government Area of the state and released a volley of shots into the air to scare the inhabitants into hiding.

A resident of the area, who spoke with Saturday Tribune on condition of anonymity, said the attackers, who carried out the raid at random in the area, stormed the resident of Dungs and shot at him at a close range and as well killed another occupant of the house, Fred Gyang.

According to the source, one other person in the area was also killed while three others sustained various degrees of injuries and now recuperating at one of the health centres in the area.

A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Honourable  Joe Dawam, Chairman, House Committee on Security, who confirmed that three people were killed, said the attack was a surprise to the people, considering the way it was carried out.

Speaking with newsmen over the  incident, the Commander, Special Task Force, Brigadier General Hassan Umaru, said the attack was carried out at about 11:30 p.m, adding that his men moved to the area immediately to arrest the situation.

The commander, who said the attack only lasted for a few minutes, stated that two people were killed on the spot while three sustained injuries.

He debunked the insinuation that the withdrawal of STF men from the area paved the way for the attack, adding that there was no permanent post as  men were bound to be deployed and be redeployed.

General Umaru said after the attack, empty cases of ammunition were recovered from the scene of the incident and appealed to the people of the area to be law-abiding and avoid any act that might lead to lawlessness and disorder.
