Efforts are under way by the Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, to probe some financial transactions of the ousted government of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

An investigation by our correspondent, on Sunday, showed that the new government would look into the N18.3bn bank loan the Oyinlola administration secured a few months to the end of its tenure.

Also to be probed are the financial expenditures on the drug manufacturing firm, which remained uncompleted since the commencement of the project over six years ago.

The financial expenditure on six stadia, road constructions, Free Trade Zone contract, and the Ido-Osun aerodrome contracts will be also be probed.

Director of Research and Strategy, Osun Action Congress, Mr Sunday Akere, who said on Sunday that the Aregbesola administration will not engage on witch-hunt, however, added that the former government will be called to answer questions if the need arose.

“Governor Aregbesola is going to Abuja tomorrow to collect his Certificate of Return. He will resume in office on Tuesday by God‘s grace. Questions would be asked over grey areas of the state’s finances if we need be.”

Calls to the line of the Chief Press Secretary to Oyinlola, Mr Lasisi Olagunju, on Sunday evening were not answered.
