Court Sacks Ex-Speaker Yakubu Dogara From House Of Reps For Defecting to APC

Former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has been sacked by the court from the House for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dogara represents Bogoro/Dass Federal constituency of Bauchi State.

He was the Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2019 and was re-elected back to the House at the expiration of his speakership.

He defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC last year, an action that made the PDP dragged him to court to reclaim the mandate given to him.

Dogara was sacked by Justice D.U. Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja today.

The judge held that the lawmaker’s defection to the APC was not in order and ordered him to vacate his seat immediately.
