The historic reconciliation of the two renowned royal fathers occurred at the coronation of the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, Ilufemiloye Esuwoye 11, at the newly constructed palace of the new monarch in Offa.
Oba Adeyemi arrived the ceremony at 1.20 p.m. and moved upstairs where other royal fathers were then quickly moved to the seat where Ooni of Ife, Oba Sijuwade was sitting down and moved towards him to embrace Sijuwade.
It was at this point that the Ooni rose from his seat and embraced the Alaafin.
The feud between the two monarchs had started in old Oyo State over the chairmanship of the then state Council of Obas and Chiefs which polarized the council .
The creation of Osun State in 1992 by former President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida apparently mitigated the crisis as the two royal fathers had the chance of heading the traditional councils of their respective states. Since then, the two royal fathers have not had the opportunity of meeting until Friday in Offa..
The event attracted some royal fathers across the country including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar 111, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Etsu of Nupe, Emir of Suleja, Emir of Shonga, Olomu of OmuAran and Alajasepo of Ajasepo.
