Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has lashed out at the representatives of the Federal Government negotiating with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, are the representatives of the government negotiating with ASUU.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, on Friday, Bello said the ministers are being insensitive with their utterances and not representing President Muhammadu Buhari well.

The governor stated that President Buhari cares so much about education and the education sector, saying that the Nigerian leader will not allow the education system to collapse under his watch.

Governor Bello said those who the president directed to handle the protracted ASUU strike are embarrassing him, He, however, President Buhari to ensure that the prolonged strike is addressed.

He said: “I don’t think they [ministers] are representing Mr President well. This is a man that cares so much about education, and even children during that lockdown were being fed at home.

“Those who Mr President entrusted to handle this protracted issue are not doing justice to it.”

Speaking further, Bello said the money spent on the COVID-19 response could have been used to resolve the lingering ASUU strike.

The governor stated that the funds spent on nose masks and hand sanitisers over COVID in the country could have been used to settle the striking lecturers.

“Like I used to say; I’ll return to the days when I was a loner, I think I’m still a loner on the issue of no COVID-19. The trillions spent buying nose masks and hand sanitisers… a lot could have solved this ASUU issue, but that’s that,” he said.

Yea Buhari has all the power to over ride the iD1 0Ts representing him if he truly cares about education. You can as well defend BUBU that he's not aware ASUU is on strike. Nigeria does not have a president yet.
The hardest job in Nigeria is to defend BUBU. No one can defend a FIALURE

If the issue has come to this magnitude like we are having now , there is nothing wrong for the president to sit as the father of the nation to give his word. But oga Bello can’t do any shot if he were to be the FGN rep on this matter. Has he settled the pensioners and salaries rocking his Kogi State?

Nigeria is not an entity any sober minded person  should take with any degree of seriousness. Where are the parents of the university students, where are they. Why not all these  parents pour on the streets  to demand Buhari to conclude  negotiations with ASUU. But again even during   the  dreaded apartheid  regimes , much of the dirty policing jobs was done by the black police officers, so i  can understand why parents of affected university student are wining and dining with the Buharis while the future of their children is being mortgaged . Wake up Nigeria, do you think  if any of Buharis kids were  in Nigeria universities, the matter wouldn't have taken  a fortnight to be solved. Wake ignorant people and rise to your tall stools and ask for yours.
