A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Prince Gabriel Nwanazia, has moved with over 200 defectors to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Nwanazia who defected to APC on Saturday at the Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state alongside his supporters said he moved to APC as a result of unresolved crises in PDP.

He said, “I am a strong PDP mobiliser, a great supporter but today I decided to move my over two hundred supporters to APC.

“PDP does not keep agreement, I have worked for PDP over the years, I have delivered for PDP in all elections in Aniocha North.

“Today, no development in our area, some of the things here were done by APC. Crisis everywhere in the party”

Presenting the defectors to the leadership of the party, the only serving APC councillor in Delta State, Mr. Emmanuel Oweazim, disclosed that Nwanazia was APC problem in the local government during elections in the past.

“2023 is the end of PDP in Delta state, one of our problems during election period had joined APC today and a lot of persons are expected to join APC soon.

“Crisis has made PDP lose one of its henchmen and by the time Omo-Agege emerged 2023, I will no longer be the only councillor in the state”

Receiving the defectors, the Aniocha North APC Chairman, Mr. Mathew Chinye, Adizue Elueaka and House of Assembly candidate of the party, Mr. Bazim Boise, noted that the defection of youth mobiliser, Nwanazia, in Delta politics marked the end of PDP in the state.

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has said the crisis currently rocking the main opposition party is a family feud that will be resolved soon.

The former vice president said this while speaking at the 35th-anniversary celebration of Akwa Ibom state held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday, September 23, 2022.

He described what is going on in PDP as a political disagreement and not a war of attrition.

Speaking further, Atiku said the opposition party will come out of the crisis stronger and better positioned to win the 2023 elections. According to him, the PDP will remain strong and grow continuously to win the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku said; “Yes, we must acknowledge that we are having internal family issues, but be rest assured that we are not involved or engaged in the war of attrition.

“It is a political disagreement and very soon, all of that will be resolved and the PDP will continue to remain strong, and grow until we win the election, by the grace of God, come February 2023.”

Atiku also urged the people of Akwa Ibom state to remain steadfast in support of the party and be hopeful that the PDP will take over power at the centre in 2023.
