"My Father Was So Poor That For The First 18 Years of My Life, I Had No Shoes" – Pastor Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has spoken about his rocky background.

 
The man of God revealed that he came from a very poor background that his parents couldn't afford a shoe for him for the first 18 years of his life.
 
Adeboye spoke during a sermon on Sunday themed ‘Perfect Gift’, aired live on his Facebook page.
 
Adeboye spoke about how things would change for the better for people when they accepted Christ. Using himself as an example, he illustrated how God can change the poor to the rich.
 
The renowned cleric said, “Some of you who know a little bit about my background, you know when they talk about people coming from a rocky background, that means from a background of hardship. My own rocky background was rock among the rocks. My father was so poor, (that) poor people called him poor. The elders have a saying, when there is hardship for the husband, and hardship for the wife, there must be hardship for the children.

“The hardship rubbed off on me. For the first 18 years of my life, I had no shoes. My father was so poor. The day he bought an umbrella, we were rejoicing, but look at me today, look at what Jesus can do, He can change the poor to the rich; change the unknown to the known.”

With all due respect, not to doubt the man of God of this caliba but thinks about it, from year1 to year 18 you never had a shoe? Haha what kind of poverty is that?  In as much as i want to believe the story, my mind is telling me, it is a lie or he doesn't remember he had shoes.
