The students, who blocked the main gates of the institution early in the morning, prevented both workers and students from coming in to the institution to resume their normal duties.
On Tuesday, there was a similar protest in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, by medical students of the university who called on stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the ownership crisis rocking the university in the interest of students and workers.
The management recently announced a 100 per cent increase in the school fees paid by both indigenes and non-indigenes, which ignited a sharp disagreement between the students and the university management, resulting in disruption of academic activities for several hours.
According to the new fees, fresh undergraduate students who were indigenes of Oyo State were to pay N100,000 as against N40,000 being paid previously, while non-indigenes had their fee jecked up from N50,000 to N110,000 per session.
Also, pre-degree indigenes students, who had been paying N50,000, had their fees increased to N115,000, while their non-indigene counterparts’ was increased from N55,000 to N125,000 per session.
